Orthodontic Treatment for Children and Adults

Orthodontics is a specialist branch of dentistry, concerned with the growth of the teeth, jaws and the face. Orthodontic management aims to create an attractive smile and a healthy, functioning bite. Crooked teeth can be straightened with a variety of different braces.

Orthodontic treatment is available for both adults and children using fixed and removable braces and clear Aligners, including Invisalign Teen. It should be noted that not all appliances are suitable for all cases. Click for some examples of commonly used braces,  for information about moving teeth or for how to look after your brace.

Nigel is not only concerned with the correction of teeth but the facial profile and the arrangement of the teeth and jaws. On occasions complete correction my involve orthodontics in conjunction with jaw surgery. Nigel works closely with the local Oral and Maxillofacial surgeons when patients require more complex treatment or simple surgical procedures. More information can be found on the Internet at The British Orthodontic Society website.

Gumshields

Gumshields (mouthguards) should be worn for contact sports to protect your mouth and teeth. If you have a fixed brace, a gumshield can be custom made to fit over your brace.
